Children's Wish Society of Malaysia
In June 2006, Erica Karen Hubbert, a 9 ½ year old Malaysian girl, was diagnosed with leukemia. On August 8, Erica said goodbye. One year later, turning a tragedy into something positive became a goal. By developing an organization, in her memory, that reaches out to provide some relief and hope to other children facing a similar fate, her life, would have had meaning and purpose. An initial meeting was held with a group of people to lay out the framework for such an organization. The name chosen was Perstauan Impian Kanak-kanak Malaysia or Children's Wish Society of Malaysia and on May 12 2008, our application for registration was approved by the Registrar of Societies in Putrajaya. The people chosen for this Board of Directors have integrity and a range of business skills which this Society will need. Professionalism and complete transparency are absolute requirements for CWS to emerge as a credible NGO. The primary objective is to put a smile on a child's face by granting a wish that this child may have. The Children's Wish movement is worldwide and its purpose is to grant a wish to children who are terminally ill. CWS serves these children who reside in East or West Malaysia.
